Media enquiries

Press requests should use the contact form with topic Media and “MEDIA QUERY” at the start of the subject line. Editors can suggest author contacts when on-the-record commentary is appropriate but cannot guarantee availability or sign off on quotes on authors’ behalf.

Text and data reuse

After launch, open-access articles are expected to carry Creative Commons terms (likely CC BY or CC BY–ND for text; figures may differ where third-party rights apply). Standard licence deeds on each article page govern reproduction without further permission up to the stated limits.

Classroom use of reasonable excerpts normally falls within fair dealing or equivalent; when in doubt, cite the DOI and link to the version of record.

Figures, tables, and substantial extracts

Republication of figures or extended quotations in another journal, book, or commercial slide deck typically requires permission from the rights holder (often the authors under CC) and acknowledgement of JBE. Copy the editorial office when you secure permission so the production desk can confirm credit lines.

Translations

Published translations need author approval where they still hold rights, plus an English abstract and DOI pointer back to the original. Unofficial translations should not imply endorsement; contact us if you are planning a full-text public translation.

Complaints about published matter

Ethics and correction requests are handled under COPE-style timelines. See the ethics section on the contact page for routing.
